United Airlines First Class B737 Denver to Seattle

United Airlines 1635
Denver (DEN) – Seattle (SEA)
Boeing 737-800
22 June 2014

The last of seven flights was delayed the most out of all seven flights. We arrived in Denver on time and boarded the plane to Seattle on time and we waited and waited and waited.. inside of the aircraft… parked next to the runway. We were inside for about an hour… from the moment until the doors closed until the take-off time. The captain did not provide helpful updates other than ‘Folks… there has been a delay here in Denver…’, that’s it? Seriously?

Anyway, at least the FAs served us beverages on the ground while waiting and people were allowed to get up and stretch their legs while we waited. We were originally supposed to take-off at 18:00 and we actually took off at 19:00, the funny thing is that there was another plane to Seattle leaving at 19:00 and it departed on-time and it even got to the gate in Seattle before us.

The flight was operated by one of United’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft which has DirecTV, so of course everyone was watching the football (soccer) game where the US was playing. The whole airplane went mad and started shouting and yelling when the US scored goals.

Surprisingly, they did not have sprite and brought me coke. On an earlier flight I asked for lemons and was brought limes… interesting how they didn’t have some of the most popular products on-board that day.

We finally took off an hour late and people were literally so happy for, well, a couple of reasons: the US won and we finally took off.

Within minutes of reaching 38k feet, the FAs took drink orders and I got the lemons this time!

They only had one choice of dinner on the flight which I was quite happy with as I was getting hungry from the delay and not eating anything on the other flight.

Dinner was a French onion soup and a chicken salad. The salad was not as dry as on the previous flights, which I was happy with.

There was a package of croutons provided for the soup. This ‘French’ onion soup had a strange after taste, it tasted bitter, sweet and salty all at the same time.

I worked for the remainder of the flight and we soon began descending into Seattle where we were presented with some captivating views of Mt. Rainier.

We soon made it on the ground in Seattle where we once again saw the beautiful mountain and some planes as we were taxiing to our gate.

We made it to United’s home, Concourse A, within 10 minutes after landing and we pulled into the last gate, A14.

And with that my mini mileage run and trip to Mexico City was over. Not only that, this is the last United flight I had scheduled for the rest of the summer, so I was kind of feeling nostalgic about not flying United within the next couple of months. My parents met me at baggage claim and we headed home after my long journey.
